Korean Hanbok

Besides Chinese Cheongsam, the Korean Hanbok is one of my most favourite traditional outfit :-)

I did my research and sewed it as close as possible to the traditional outfit.

Here's the outer jacket called jeogori. Materials used are 100% imported cotton and imported Taiwan sequin lace. I totally heart this sequin lace, and am beating myself up for not buying more to stash away. I tied the red ties, otkorum, the correct traditional way.
With it's dress, chima, the Korean Hanbok is complete. I used thick but cooling Chinese brocade. Chinese brocade is expensive but it provides richness to its outlook and fullness to the skirt. This brocade design is the perfect match for the Taiwan sequins on the outer jacket :-). Hope Mummy J and little Princess G love the outfit as much as I do :-).

Sorry for all the quiet.

I miss this space dearly, and would love to update more often, but was too caught up to do anything more than updating nivniv Facebook page now and then. Between Christmas to Chinese New Year is always the bussiest time of the year for nivniv Handmade. This year was especially hectic, as Christmas and CNY were just one month apart!

I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to my dear customers and friends for your repeat orders. I had the pleasure of revisiting some of my current designs, and sewing them again gave me a familiar feeling of contentment :-).

I was also excited in designing some new dresses, which I can hardly wait to share with you in my future posts. Hope you will like them as much as I do :-).

Here's wishing you a very Happy Chinese New Year. May the year of Dragon 2012 brings you and your loved ones abundant of happiness, health, prosperity, and togetherness. Gong Xi Fa Cai! :-)

Model Wannabe

Since young, my daughter QQ, loves dressing up and modeling for the camera. Recently, she had the opportunity to do so for a profile shoot (which I am not able to do share now!). I snapped alongside; these blurry shots are from my iPhone.

Now she's getting quite comfortable, and doing more and more poses...Later she added some unconventional ones...Haha... here's her doing the ostrich walk. With her tongue in action :-DAnd... hahaha! I don't know what pose this is. Also with that tongue action. I find it just plain funny :-PNote:

I made this Red Modern Cheongsam for QQ for CNY celebration when she was 2.5 years old. Now that she is 4.5 years old, she is still able to wear it as a tunic.

Customized Pouches

This is a customised order from a dear childhood friend, Soo Fong :-).

She loves the fabric combo as the ones we have for iPhone cozy, but wanted the pouches to be bigger. All the other features; buttoned flaps, removable straps and back buttoned pockets are the same as the iPhone cozies, only bigger :-) Thanks, Soo Fong!

Dress: Red Bow Dress

When my dear customer and friend showed me some pictures for this dress, I was immediately attracted to the big bow behind the dress. After figuring out how to sew it and having found some big polka-dots fabric, the project is a go :-). We made some changes to the original pictures, and here's the outcome :-)

Front - the straps is attached to the dress with buttons. Here's how the back looks like, with both the straps looped through and tied as a big bow at the back. Comes with a matching babushka. Available in these two colour prints - Red and Blue
